Reserve police officers with the Phoenix Police Department are men and women who have various careers in the private and governmental sectors, who also volunteer to work as part-time, full-authority police officers. Reserve officers are certified by AZPOST as full-authority and sworn police officers. Reserve police officers perform the same duties as paid career police officers.
The mission of reserve police officers is to staff and supplement the police department’s daily operational needs, by working as patrol officers, detectives and in other specialty assignments, and to be a ready force of additional police officers which may be deployed in times of natural or man-made disasters.
