In-State Lateral Transfer
The criteria for in-state lateral transfers to the Phoenix Police Reserve Division include:
- Applicants must have at least one year of experience as a peace officer within the State of Arizona and have an AZPOST certification in good standing.
- Applicants must have one year of patrol experience not including administrative and training assignments.
- Applicants must have successfully completed a peace officer law enforcement academy which was certified by AZPOST.
- Applicants must successfully complete the Phoenix Police Department's hiring process.
Out-of-State Lateral Transfer
The criteria for out-of-state lateral transfers to the Phoenix Police Reserve Division include:
- Applicants must have at least one year of experience as a full-authority peace officer and have a state peace officer certification in good standing.
- Applicants must have one year of patrol experience not including administrative and training assignments.
- Applicants must successfully complete the Phoenix Police Department's hiring process.
- Applicants must submit a copy of their academy training record and graduation certificate, along with their current department training record and peace officer certification.
- Qualified candidates who are hired will attend a needs assessment and certification process, to include the AZPOST wavier examination.
- Once an out-of-state officer successfully completes the AZPOST wavier examination, they will attend post-academy training, and then will be assigned to a field training officer squad in patrol.
